Momo is most popular street fast-food in northeastern states including Assam. On the street, there are two types of Momo, chicken, and veg along with tasty chutneys. These small foods made with flour with cabbage in case of vegetable momos. Momo is very popular in Barak Valley specially Cachar District. It has the places of origin from Nepal, Tibet, India. Momos have many variations like Steam-momo, Kothey momo, C-momo, Fry-momo, Open- momo.
Chow mein (Noodles)
Chow mein is very popular noodles in the Northeast. Every day during the evening, chow mein is served to every markets and restaurant. Chow mein is actually a Chinese food which is originated from Guangdong, China. Its serve hot to the customer and its main ingredients are Noodles, soy sauce, vegetables. Chowmein is also served in many variations with Chicken, beef, shrimp, or tofu.
Jhal Muri is most popular street food in Assam. Jhal muri mean spices and muri. It fired 4 cups of muri, 1 teaspoon oil, 2 green chilies. It is most popular in Bengali community. If you travel by train in the northeast you will definitely get Jhal Muri inside every passenger train. People use to get inside the train with their staff(Jhal Muri ) and sales to every individual who wants to eat.
Chicken lollipop is also popular and it is also served with much fast food restaurant. It is prepared by lollipop molds by spraying lightly with non-stick cooking spray and then mixed the sugar, corn syrup, and then water in a medium over medium heat.
Lucchi is not only a popular food but also a regular meal of Assam and the Northeast. Lucchi is served every hour from morning to evening and it is served especially at afternoon because lots of people who come to office have their launch with Lucchi and the students don’t bring their tiffin also eat Luchi. It has the place of origin in East India and Bangladesh and has two variation Poori and Kachori.
